For the past few years I have been trying to find ONE WORD to use as an inspiration as I begin the new year.  This year it took me a lot of time to come to my ONE WORD conclusion.

I chose the word NOT because it's in the title of my blog.  I am honestly trying to do things in my life for one reason...to glorify God.  I want to do things, say things and live with a purpose.  I want to purpose to live in a way that pleases God.  So, for this coming year I have a focus and a word to have at the forefront of my mind.

Have you ever had a verse, ONE WORD, or a phrase that you have focused on?

1 Corinthians 10:31 "Whether, therefore you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

I have a verse. It’s Proverbs 14:1…it’s not necessarily my “life verse”, but it is a verse that has meant a lot to me in the past year, and it’s one I’m striving to live by…although, I fail daily! I have it printed out and taped to my bathroom mirror as a daily reminder to be the wife and mommy that God wants me to be.

    Proverbs 14:1:
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

It’s so simple, not complex at all…just a smack across the hand to remind me that I need to be, in ALL things, the wise woman that this verse talks about. It’s not a specific area of my life that I need to focus on; rather, it’s an all-encompassing, potentially life-altering (If I allow it to be!) reminder of who God created me to be!

This year I hope to go much farther in this journey than I did last year…praying for strength, patience, and the wisdom I need in the process!

phil. 1:6 comes to mind. I’d say it’s my “life verse”, but it’s more than that. God has almost redefined what the verse means in the various seasons of my life. Sometimes I’ve had more tangible visions of what that “good work” looks like that He is going to get me through (i.e. chemo, grad school, etc.), and although I don’t have something that I’m exactly knowing that I’m suppose to be accomplishing, I know that the Author and perfecter of my faith is up to something good, and He’s gonna get me through.
