Weight loss has slowed down for the past 6 months.  Praise GOD, I truly did not become discouraged.  I had moments of wishing it would go faster but, in all honesty I was not downhearted!  I trust the plan and know that if I follow what I've learned that I will get there!  I don't look at weight loss as a quick journey!  I think that is what many think from watching The Biggest Loser or Extreme Weight Loss shows.  When I see someone lose 100 pounds in 3 months due to INSANE amounts of exercise I get concerned.  I know it can easily be gained back and that their overall health is being jeopardized. Me, before....at about 304 pounds. 393379_10150433035987205_1977607241_n Though it's taken time to reach this goal, I am thankful.  I am savoring each little non-scale victory that I meet.  Recently I went to the doctor because I had some hormone testing done and wanted him to read the results.  I met a goal sitting on the doctor's table.  He went to take my blood pressure and put the cuff on.  I am used to the embarrassment of a doctor asking the nurse for the larger cuff because it won't fit.  Today, it fit perfectly!  I smiled.  Then my blood pressure was 125/85!!  I wanted to jump up and down!  One year ago I was on blood pressure medicine and it was still at 165/90 or higher!  My bottom numbers were often at 99.  My doctor was proud of me which was an added bonus!  I will take these type victories any day over pounds.  Stalls or slow loses can all be a beautiful part of the journey if YOU let it.  It was a signal for me that my body was healing and that my thyroid was low.  Now, I am getting help for my hormone health! So, for fun...I wanted to see how many pounds I've lost visually!  I know it encourages me to keep on pushing!  What weighs 75 pounds?  How much have I really lost? Thanks for the support many of you have given me on my journey!  I've got a ways to go but, I am thankful for how far I've come!  I am thankful for all God has done in my life through Trim Healthy Mama!   Join me on Facebook:  Home With a Purpose- Jennifer Griffin

Thank you so much Jennifer. For all of your encouragement to me through your posts, your recipes, your encouragement. It means so much to me. I tend to emotionally eat, and right now my emotions are all over the place, and for the first time in my life, I am able to not only stick with healthy choices, but I overeat way less. Thank you!

Jennifer, thanks for the encouraging update. I get discouraged because weight is coming off so slowly. In fact, I joined the turtle group. I needed to hear what you shared about not quitting, knowing the plan will work. You look amazing:) thanks for all you do as a thm encourager.

Jennifer, I recently learned that I have an under active thyroid, as well. Can you share what you’re doing to boost your thyroid function? Thanks!

    • Jennifer Griffin

Jessica, I did my own blood work. I used Healthonelabs.com but, there are many others. I did a female panel and an extra thyroid panel that had Free T3 and Free T4 tests in it. Those are the early indicators and often overlooked in testing. I paid about $120 for all those tests…a fraction of what I’d have paid if the doctor ordered them. I then got my results via email and took them to my doctor.

He is a D.O…or a natural doc who does great with thyroid stuff. 🙂 He said 3 of my 4 sex hormones were low. So, he put me on Nature-Throid to get my thyroid where it needs to be…hopefully the others will follow suit. He explained that the thyroid is like a thermostat for the others. I am also now taking Selenium and Iodine. 🙂 Those are often deficient.

Sorry you are struggling, Laura! I know you can do it.

Oh you look fabulous!!!!!!! I look just like your before (except your hair is WAY cuter!!!) and am about the same weight. 🙁 I NEED to get the book to officially start THM!! I’ve been pinning recipes like a mad woman!! And my husband was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic about a month ago, so this would be a perfect fit for him, too!!

I’m signing up to follow your blog! I cannot wait to learn!!

What are you “must have’s” to get started? Stevia? Different flours??

GREAT job on your weight loss! I’m proud of you!!!

    His,
    Shari

Hi Shari! Thanks for the sweet words. You can do it too! I hope you can get the book soon. It comes quickest from the THM website. With Amazon many have waited up to 3 weeks to get it. I really like the THM Sweet Blend and the Stevia Extract as well. I’ve tried so many! You can do well with no special ingredients but, I know Swanson’s Brand PREMIUM Protein Powder is something I do buy that really helps. I love having smoothies/shakes. You can buy Jay Robb brand in the supermarket but, it’s more expensive since it’s a much smaller amount. I do use coconut and flax flours in my baking. I use almond as well, sometimes. You can just start slow and add a few things here and there. 🙂
