Why do I do it?  Why do I painstakingly spend ample amounts of time each year trying to figure out what my new "Word" should be?  I sit and stare at my blank journal waiting to write down THE WORD.  Some of you may come up with a word easily and maybe some of you are like me and you really think it through.  We are even having a word for our family to focus on this year.  That was pretty easy for us.  My husband and I agreed on <Simplify> pretty quickly!  Streamlining down our "stuff".  Less of many things at home like media, busyness and worldly possessions. Man do we have a lot to do!  Team Griffin will be working on many purging projects together!  The boys aren't sold yet, but hopefully when they "see the light at the end of the tunnel" they will appreciate the work and satisfaction as we benefit from the fruits of our labor. My word?  I was going to go with Less....Less of me and more of Him.  But, with our family word being Simplify, I feel like I can use that in many ways.  My friend mentioned, Persevere. I love that word, but it was my word two years ago or so.  So...as you can see I keep waffling!  In some ways I feel like I'm still in a fight everyday for so many things.  You've read about them if you've followed me at all.  Warrior? Hmm.  Maybe I should just be FOCUSED since I am working every day towards progress in so many areas. So many words, so little time.  FOCUSED it is!
Col. 3:2- "Set your affections on things above, not on earthly things." Phil.10:31-"Wether therefore you eat or drink or whatever you do, do ALL to the glory of God."
How do you choose?  It's not too late!  January 1st isn't a magical day in which you must have your word all set in stone for the year.  I think that's all in our heads.  I'd love to hear your word or phrase of the year. How you came to choose your word and what your hoping to accomplish! Picking a word isn't a must, but it's been a good thing in my life.  It helps me to think on the things I want to pursue or accomplish throughout the whole year and not just in the month of January. Here's to a beautiful 2018, the good and the hard.  God is in it all!

I thought of Healing. I struggle with various issues I want to see Healing in. I’m working toward that. Some days I think I’m making progress. But Healing doesn’t quite cut it. I don’t just want to be healed I want to THRIVE.

I’m working on “Silence” as my word. But I also have a sentence, “God, what do You want me to do today?” which pretty much requires silence to hear His answer, lol. The question was in a devotional message which literally jumped out at me.
